about

PK notes for: Band Of Brothers:
Back in 2012, I was contacted through a good friend that John Walquist, a Southern California songwriter had asked if I would do some guitar work on his collection of songs that he was recording with friend – multi talented musician and vocalist Ragnar Rosinkranz.

So I started on a couple…played some electric bass as well.
I may have initially played on 8 songs or so and really came to love these earlier songs of John.

When the album was finally completed in 2017, I was sent a few CDs. It was titled “Weatherboy” and it was a very adventurous collection of songs and I enjoyed the abandonment and creativity but it was a different concept than I had thought it would be.

As much as I appreciated the first release, I approached John and asked if he would be interested in completing the album with a more acoustic/home style approach. I invited him to our home so as to
make new mixes with the idea that they would be a bit more laid back and more “homespun,” as it were. He agreed and he had also mentioned that he had written a number of new songs as well, if I’d
be open to record them. We recorded at least 5 more songs and I invited my friend Steve Brewster to drum on these new songs as well as a few of the earlier recorded songs that John and Ragnar had
initially recorded in LA. I was pleased that Ragnar was very supportive of this venture. I regard his musicianship and his singing very highly on these tracks… I also enjoy the diversity of our vocal contributions that make up the whole listening experience! John’s love for his family comes through his voice so honest and tenderly!

What we ended up with, when finally mixed and mastered with the generous help and gifted ears of Rex Paul Schnelle, was an album that I rank as one of the top band recordings I’ve been a part of. It’s like a Paul Clark and Friends of the 21st Century. We call it “A BAND OF BROTHERS”!

It’s a lovely album that focuses on love of family and faith. I’m so pleased to get this project to you friends! There are moments that really touch me and, in some ways, take me back to my early days when I played the sweeter things on my Les Paul with Glass Harp.

I hope you will enjoy this sweet and musical album of songs from this Band of Brothers.

Phil Keaggy - August 22, 2021

Here are John’s notes:
“The collection of songs you are holding, songs for my four daughters, my lovely wife, my Maker, emerged from joyful depths. The joy of sharing them, however, could not have happened apart from the love, encouragement and inspired labor of my brothers, Phil, Ragnar and Steve.

Final note:
If you’ve never listened to an album, cover to cover {start to end}, or it’s been a while, may I suggest you experience or re-experience this album in that way."
